After our hugely successful video on setting up our kids for homeschooling, Osteo for Families has decided to launch IN HOME ERGONOMIC DESK ASSESSMENTS, not only for mum and dad but for kids as well.
Thanks to the support from Nillumbik Shire Council Small Business Grant we have a new tablet to bring to homes allowing us to complete and send you ergonomic reports instantly.

What are your qualifications?
We are a team of highly professional and qualified osteopaths who have completed additional qualifications in ergonomic assessments.
What do you assess?
We assess your workstation, whether it is a desk workstation or a standing packing station, it could even be your kitchen if you are a baker!!! Where you spend your paid hours at home, we will come and assess it.
For kids it is not unusual to assess them working off the kitchen bench, dining table or a desk. If they are working on their bed we will encourage them away from this, but also give them some tips for when they feel the need to spend a little time on their bed.
We will assess:
Optimal height and angles for all your equipment including desk, chair, mouse etc
Evaluate your work area including lighting, temperature, glare and flooring
Assess your posture whilst working
Look at work patterns and make sure you are taking the necessary breaks
Do we sell equipment?
No we don’t. When completing an assessment we may make suggestions on how you can improve your set up for example:
adjusting your chair height,
move your keyboard back or forward.
suggest items around the house such as books or steps to help with your set up.
If necessary we may advice you on products to buy to improve your set up but our aim is to use whatever is in the home as much as possible.
How old do the kids need to be for an assessment?
This service is available to all ages. Yes that is right ALL ages. If you have a child on an IPAD we can offer tips and tricks with their posture. If they are at school, we are happy to advise on their desk set up.
Got a child completing VCE??? We can help make sure they have the right desk and study set up to avoid neck and back pain, headaches or even shoulder and wrist pain.
How much does it cost to come to my house?
The cost for us to come to your house and complete an assessment for 1 family member is $170 + GST for anyone located within 0-5kms of Osteo for Families (2 Cockatoo Court, Diamond Creek) according to google maps .
For any additional family member the cost is only $75.
Are there discounts for families wanting all household members to be assessed?
Yes…For families of 2 Adults and 1-4 children the cost is $270 + GST instead of over $500 if you have 4 children.
I live further than 5 km’s away, will you come to me?
We are happy to visit anywhere in Melbourne, but we need to allocate enough time for the drive both to and from and of course that means extra fees will apply.
Can I claim with my private health insurance company?
From our end no, but from your end possibly. We believe some health insurance companies will cover ergonomic assessments, but I will warn you most don’t. It is best for you to check on your end before booking and then let us know so we can make sure our invoice is correct for the insurance companies.
How do I pay?
We except cash on the day, otherwise a direct deposit is accepted before or at time of consult. An invoice will be sent to you before the consultation so you will have our bank details ready to go.
My Employer is happy to pay, is that ok?
What an awesome boss you have!!! Of course that is fine, though we do need money paid at or before the consultation. To make it easy we are happy to send you an invoice at time of booking which will hopefully allow you to prepare your employer for payment.
My employer would like a report. Can you write a report?
Of course we can but like everything we need to allow additional time to write this report and therefore there would be additional costs associated depending on how detailed the report needs to be. Please discuss with our reception team when booking.
Can I book an appointment an ergonomic assessment online?
Unfortunately no. Our wonderful reception team need to discuss with you where you live and how many people in your family would like to be assessed. This is so we can make sure we allocate the right amount of time. Are you allowed to visit me with all the COVID-19 restrictions? If so what precautions are you using?
We as osteopaths have been deemed essential workers during this pandemic and have been allowed to operate from our clinic. Now the government has lifted the first lot of restrictions you are allowed 5 people in your home.
Our Osteopaths have completed the governments COVID-19 training. We have downloaded the COVID-19 app and we would appreciate if you do too.
We can assure you that our osteopaths have not returned from overseas in the past 4 weeks and we have not been in contact with anyone we know who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. If we have any signs or symptoms of the flu or a cold we will reschedule or send another team member. Of course we require you to also acknowledge that you and the members of your family are fit and well also.
Our Osteopaths carry on them hand sanitiser, masks, gloves and bacterial wipes. We wash our hands before we leave the clinic and we use hand sanitiser at your front door. We follow the social distancing rule of 1.5m and if we need to encroach that space we will wear a mask.
We would appreciate if you could make sure your work space has been disinfected before we arrive, so we can continue protecting our community.
How can I prepare for your visit?
First of all please make sure you and your family are healthy and have no signs or symptoms of a cold or flu.
Please disinfect your workstations as best as possibly
Make sure that your workstation is ready, for example; your lap top is open and on the surface you work at even if it is the kitchen bench
